Receiving your IMSE OG Certification ensures that you are confident in using IMSE’s OG methodology. During the certification process, you will have the invaluable opportunity for personalized feedback from IMSE Master Instructors. IMSE COMPREHENSIVE ORTON-GILLINGHAM CERTIFICATION

This Certification is ideal for educators working with students working at a K-3 reading level, as well as those who wish to work towards an IMSE Specialist Certification (see below).

Step 1:
ORTON-GILLINGHAM COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING

K-3 Reading Level

This 30-hour training is a hands-on, personalized session that provides a complete understanding of IMSE's Orton-Gillingham method and the skills necessary to apply it in the classroom. After participating in this training, teachers will be able to assess, evaluate, and teach children how to read, write, and spell proficiently.

Step 2:
Practicum

After completing our Comprehensive Course (30 hours), participants can apply for the 45-hour practicum. During practicum, participants will develop lesson plans, be observed, and have a one-on-one coach while using the IMSE OG methodology in their classroom or with an individual student.  Participants will be required to take an exit exam upon completion of the practicum.

This Certification is ideal for educators working with students working at a 3-6 reading level, as well as those who wish to work towards the IMSE Specialist Certification (see below).

ORTON-GILLINGHAM ADVANCED CONTINUUM TRAINING

3-6 Reading Level

The Advanced Continuum Training teaches participants multi-sensory strategies for teaching higher level concepts. The training is 24 hours of contact time. Although the program is based upon the foundation of the Comprehensive Training, it is beneficial but not necessary to have had the Comprehensive Training to take this course.

Practicum

After completing our Advanced Continuum Course, participants can apply for the 45-hour practicum that expands your understanding and use of IMSE’s OG methodology.

IMSE ORTON-GILLINGHAM SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION

The IMSE Specialist Certification is comprised of completing both the IMSE Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Certification and the IMSE Advanced Morphology Certification. Participants will improve their skills working with students with reading levels K-6. Participants are required to complete one practicum at a time.

Certification Application Periods

Once the maximum number of applications have been received, all other applicants will be put on a waitlist for the current application period only. Once all available practicum openings have been filled, no other applicants will be accepted. If a practicum opening becomes available, applicants on the waitlist will be contacted on a first-come-first-serve basis. If not accepted in the current application period, all applicants including those on the waitlist, must reapply with current and updated information during the next application period.
