Ohio’s Third Grade Guarantee

The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) is an Approved Professional Development Provider for Ohio's Third Grade Guarantee

The 2013-14 school year requires third grade teachers in the state of Ohio who work with students that are either on a reading improvement and monitoring plan, or have been retained to hold a credential or participate in a scientifically research-based reading instruction training program. The professional development must be from the Ohio Department of Education’s approved list. This is in accordance with Sub. Senate Bill 21.

The 2014-15 school year requires the same credentials apply to kindergarten through grade three teachers.

IMSE’s 30-Hour Comprehensive Training is approved as a research-based reading instruction program that meets all the requirements for Ohio’s Third Grade Guarantee. Our revised Orton-Gillingham approach to reading includes multi-sensory strategies to teach the basic foundation of the English language.

Because IMSE has a relationship with the Ashland University, participants who take the 30-Hour can also elect to pay for and receive graduate college credit from the Ashland University. Two graduate credits are available upon completion of the 30 Hour training.  Learn more about college credit here.
