The most important reading readiness skill for young children is phonemic awareness. The format includes goals and rationale of sequential activities from phonological to phonemic awareness, and leading into the beginning stages of Orton-Gillingham. Teachers are provided with guidelines for lessons, reading readiness and assessment to help students develop the number one predictor of reading success.
